July Updates
Hello, hello friends!
I have quite a lot going on that I wish I could talk about. As I mentioned in my last email, I have new projects. The second one has been accepted, so both are now well on the way.
Unfortunately, I don’t think either of them will be out until the end of the year. One potentially not until early next year. Ugh, it’s so hard not to share more details, but I can say; neither of them are novels.
Ooooh, whatever could they be?
As for my novels, I am still working hard to finish The Wicked Ones duology. Bare Your Teeth is pretty well edited. I think it’s ready for beta reading. The question is how to do this because I’ve never had beta readers before. If any of you are interested, let me know either in the comments or on my social media. I do have a list of questions to answer, if you would like to see them and have an idea of what to answer once you’ve finished reading.
As for Sharpen Your Claws, I’m not as far along as I wish I was. These projects have cut into my work and some ideas I had for it aren’t working out the way I hoped, but hey, that’s how writing is. I found a few options for artists that I’m looking into and hope to contact by the end of this summer. I’m actually considering releasing the duology back-to-back, maybe a month between releases? But that depends on how much I get done, so don’t quote me on that!
If anyone wants to know about how the poison oak is doing, it is finally gone, and my feet are healing. I’ve got some marks left, so they may scar, but as long as the blisters are gone, I’m happy!
Serving the Undying King is still updating on tapas. Please check it out if you’re interested. I’ve heard there may be exciting things happening for novels at Tapas. What that may be, I’m not sure, but I am hoping for comic adaptations, and the more interaction a novel gets, the more likely it is to be adapted.
Slam Dunk Love is updating on my patreon, albeit a little slowly. I have to focus on my paid projects, but I’ve got the biggest work out of the way, so fingers crossed I get to more regular updates soon.
After The Wicked Ones duology ends, I am considering taking a break from posting free content on Tapas and Wattpad. As much as I love to share free stories so anyone can read, it’s hard to work on paid content alongside free content.
I really want to take at least two months off to work on He Who Will Be King. If you don’t know what He Who Will Be King is, it’s a romantic fantasy about a prince and his bodyguard that I wrote years ago. It was once online but I’ve taken it down. I’ve been trying to publish for years, but editing is the hardest part for me, and I want this to become a trilogy. A lot of changes are being made, so to do this right, I need to focus. I don’t think I can do that with places like patreon on plus posting free content. Of course, I’ll notify everyone when I come to a decision.
Lastly, a little inner thoughts from Twoony.
Speak the Truth has hit a stride in the last month. I have a reel that went viral on instagram, which resulted in a good performance on Amazon. Not to say it has blown up and I’m swimming in cash (I wish,) just that more people have discovered Speak the Truth, and that always makes me nervous.
If you’re new here, Speak the Truth was my first “big” book. I wrote it when I was seventeen (save the last book, I think I was twenty-two or twenty-three.) I have a love-hate relationship with Speak the Truth. I’m grateful for its success because I wouldn’t be where I am today without it and the original readers. I’m also terrified because I know it isn’t the best book I’ve ever written. There is content in there I wouldn’t write now as an adult, but I also don’t want to hide it because, yes, I wrote that. I was younger. I didn’t understand the world as I do now, and I think it should be okay to show that progression from the person I was to the person I am now.
I don’t know what I’m trying to say, just that I’m always a little nervous when Speak the Truth gets attention. It’s scary and exciting and I don’t know how I truly feel about that.
Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well in this heatwave. We had our first rain in about three weeks yesterday.
Keep cool and stay safe!
